Erwin Hymer Group made a name for themselves originally in Europe as an innovative designer of compact, full-featured camper vans. Their entry into the North American market has been met with much success. In cooperation with Thor, Erwin Hymer delivers all the features you need for a great on- or off-the-grid recreation experience in a compact and maneuverable camper van.
This Corado Axion is built from a front-wheel drive RAM ProMaster 1500 High Roof van and is just under 18 feet long. It has a short turning radius, a backup camera, and a navigation system. You can easily fit into a parking space at the grocery store and get back and be connected to your campground site with no hassles. With a 200-watt solar panel, lithium batteries, a powerful 2000-watt converter/inverter, and a 5.9-gallon propane tank, you can even boon-dock off the beaten path! Furthermore, this van has no traditional RV markings and is of a vehicle type that is usually not restricted by neighborhood covenants.
The RAM 280 HP 3.6L V6 engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission is more than adequate to power the van. In fact, it has a class 5 hitch receiver with a built-in towing stability system and is rated to tow up to 4500 pounds. The V6 has better gas mileage than RVs that require larger engines.
A running board makes it easy to step inside the van. Inside, the Axion has a 6 ft 3" headroom throughout. The kitchen has a sink, a 700-watt microwave, a two-burner propane gas cooktop, and a refrigerator/freezer. The bench seat converts into a comfortable double bed. In the van's rear is a full bathroom with a toilet, sink, and shower. The van is designed for two people to camp in, but the driver and passenger seat swivels to the lounge area with fittings for two small pedestal tables (stowaway) and sufficient room for four adults to eat and socialize.
The Corado Axion has a Bluetooth-enabled AM/FM stereo, DVD/CD player, and a USB port for entertainment. There is a satellite antenna and a 24" LED TV with swivel.
For your comfort, there is a rooftop A/C, an Alde propane furnace/water heater, and a 2000-watt inverter/converter with built-in lithium batteries. The interior has LED lighting, power outlets, and a lot of storage, including a clothes locker. The hand crank awning with LED bar is easy to deploy for some shade when relaxing outdoors. There is also an exterior propane connection for a portable grill. The van has a 30 AMP shore power connection and comes with a power cable.
The Axion has a freshwater storage tank and city water connection. Included is a sewage disposal system which includes a macerating dump hose. The control panel has a feature that allows you to see how full the fresh and black water tanks are.
